This double concert brings together two major voices in African and global music, uniting Afropop, jazz and world music.

Richard Bona

Richard Bona is one of the world’s leading bassists, composers and multi-instrumentalists, bringing together jazz, world music and Afropop. The Grammy Award winner combines virtuosic musicianship with vocals and African musical traditions. His music draws on cultural traditions while engaging with social issues, creating a distinctive sound that moves across genres. Alongside his concert career, Bona collaborates with artists from pop, Brazilian music, flamenco and Caribbean traditions, and also works internationally as a mentor and educator.

Fatoumata Diawara

Fatoumata Diawara is one of the leading voices in contemporary African music. Singing in several languages, including Bambara, she combines personal experience with socio-political themes. Her music addresses issues such as women’s rights and social justice, turning them into powerful, danceable songs. Diawara combines musical expressiveness with a clear artistic vision and a commanding international stage presence.
